10 Tips for Making a Beautiful Tryplo

Want your Tryplo to look top notch? With these tips, you’ll easily take photos that fit the design perfectly. Whether it’s a team photo, portrait or action photo: with a little preparation, you’ll create something beautiful to be proud of.

1. Use natural light (preferably outside or near a window)

Photos become most beautiful with soft daylight. Outdoor photography is ideal, such as on the field or along the line. Avoid flash or dark spaces.

2. Choose a quiet background

A level wall, a grass field or the sports hall wall works best. This way the person or team comes out well without distractions.

3. Put the team in rows of two

In team photos, it is nice to put players in rows of two: front row seated or squatting, back row standing. Everyone clearly visible and in the middle of the picture? Perfect!

4. Take an action photo

Action photo ‘simple’

A good action photo can be taken simply by having each player shoot at an empty target. The photographer then takes a picture of the player at the moment of shooting.

Action photo ‘difficult’

If you want to take an action photo in a match situation, you can of course do that at a later time. Here you can work together with a trainer or parent of a particular team who then takes an action photo per player and delivers it to you. You can then add these photos to the Tryplo of the player in question at any time. However, this approach is a bit more challenging.

5. Make sure everything is in focus

Make sure the person or team falls completely and nicely within the frame.
For portrait photos: place the head and shoulders centrally in the frame.
For team photos: leave enough space above and below the team so that no one is cut off.

6. Make sure your photo is sharp

Hold the camera steady or use a timer. Blurry photos do not come out nicely in print. After shooting, check that the image is sharp.

7. Make everyone laugh or do something fun

No stiff faces! A smile, team yell, crazy pose or victory pose makes the Tryplo unique. Above all, let everyone be themselves.

8. Photograph in the right direction

For team photos, landscape (horizontal) is best. Portrait photos and action photos are better taken standing (vertical). When uploading, check which area you fill in and choose the right size.

9. Take your time and take multiple photos

Take a series of photos and choose the best ones later. That way you can be sure everyone is looking right, no one is blinking and the lighting is correct.

10. Always use the original photo file (not via WhatsApp!).

Please note that photos sent via WhatsApp or social media often lose quality. They are automatically resized and look less sharp. Therefore, always upload the original file directly from your device or camera.

Additional tips for iPhone & Android use:

iPhone:

  • Use AirDrop (for Apple devices): Send photos via AirDrop instead of WhatsApp or iMessage to preserve original quality.
  • Use ‘File’ instead of ‘Photo’ in WhatsApp: If you still want to use WhatsApp, send the photo as a ‘Document’ through the Files app. Then the original resolution will be preserved.
  • Download iCloud photos in original size: Go to Settings > Photos and make sure you have “Download and save originals” enabled, otherwise you may get a scaled-down version of your photo.
  • Check HEIC files: iPhones save photos as HEIC files by default. Some systems do not accept these properly. If necessary, convert them to JPG through the Photos app or when exporting.

Android:

  • Use “Share as a file” in WhatsApp: Select the photo from a file manager (e.g., “Files” or “My files”) and choose “Send as a document” in WhatsApp.
  • Google Photos: download in original quality: If your photos are in Google Photos, be sure to choose “Original” and not “High” or “Standard” when downloading.
  • Use USB or cloud storage: Use a USB cable or cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer to transfer photos in original quality.

General tip (for both):
Please note that when editing photos in apps (such as Instagram, TikTok or even WhatsApp itself), the image is often resaved with lower quality. So always send the original, unedited photo if quality is important to you.
